It’s National Volunteer Appreciation Week! That means this week is all about YOU! Without our incredible volunteers and donors, there is no way Beverly’s Birthdays could do what we do. We are constantly blown away by your generous support. You are making a difference in so many lives. It is clear by the many smiling faces at each one of our birthday celebrations. Please know that we think of you with gratitude often, but this week, you’re especially on our minds and our hearts for National Volunteer Appreciation!
Charisma: “It is a sparkle; an invisible energy, with visible effects.”
Joy: “There are those who give with joy, and that joy is their reward.”
Compassion: “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
Purpose: “A life without cause is a life without effect.”
Cheer: “The best way to spread cheer is to smile from ear to ear.”
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”
We matter because the children matter. Thank you for sharing our values and making a difference!
Yesterday, Ms. Megs and Maria were back at the office of birthday cheer! Megs took a month off with baby Wyatt. He accompanied them to the office and enjoyed watching them organizing donations! As always, there are lots of fun things going on in the land of cheer. Here are your April updates:
March Madness Fundraiser a Success!
After a very exciting NCAA tournament, Mandy Klink was the winner of the Beverly’s Birthdays fundraiser bracket! We had 24 brackets entered in the fundraiser and had a blast keeping an eye on the standings. We hope you did, too! Thanks to everyone who participated!
K9 Kingdom Fundraiser Extended Through April
Our friends at K9 Kingdom have extended their March fundraiser through April. We are so grateful for their support! Located in Wexford, K9 Kingdom is a full service doggy paradise. K9 Kingdom will continue to donate $2 from every dog park visit and $3 from every dog wash to Beverly’s Birthdays! Dogs can help spread birthday cheer, too!

Survey Says: Birthday Celebrations Continue to Spread Cheer!
Last Monday, we had a birthday party at Auberle for the teens. Playing off of the success of the last LCR party, Ms. Megs decided to go with a Family Feud party. The teens LOVED the fun competition. Ms. Megs will have to come up with something just as fun for our next Auberle party. Ideas are always welcome!
As always, thank you for your support! Keep an eye on our Facebook page and follow @bevbirthdays on Twitter for updates!
Spring brings flowers, sun, outdoor fun, and BUGS! From ladybugs to butterflies, this time of year is full of creepy crawlers. For our spring party with East End Cooperative Ministries, we held a BUG BASH on Saturday, April 6. We celebrated all children with birthdays in March, April, and May. We sang “Happy Birthday” to each one of them, and they all got to blow out their own birthday candles. The kids ate pizza and played a caterpillar relay game, but the biggest hit was the crafts! They made bug hats and really showed off their creativity! They also made little foam bugs that some of the girls turned into jewelry. (Both crafts can be seen in pictures!) The cupcakes went perfectly with the bug theme! A big thanks to Autumn Bartels Homemade Sweet Treats for providing them! Of course, the kids got treat bags on their way out the door. Birthday party volunteer Kelly put together bug nets with candy and treats inside (also in pictures). Thanks Kelly! Ms. Megs’ own new little bug, baby Wyatt, was also in attendance for his first Beverly’s Birthday celebration. Like all of Beverly’s Birthdays’ parties, the kids’ smiles were contagious. Our summer party with EECM will be a beach bash, and we can’t wait!
Spring is here and there is sure to be tons and tons of birthday cheer! Our latest party at Sojourner House MOMS was a blast! We celebrated the birthdays of 7 boys and girls, 4 of who were at the party! The party was Easter themed and the kids loved every minute of it. They got Easter eggs filled with candy, because who doesn’t love that?! They made fun chick and duck hats to wear around the party(in pictures below). They also made Easter magnets and played a bunny game. Speaking of a bunny, the Easter Bunny himself made an appearance! He was full of both Easter cheer and birthday cheer, and Beverly’s Birthdays sure loves that! The kids couldn’t wait to sit on his lap and get pictures with him. The smiles on their faces said it all! We’d like to thank students from Pitt Alpha Phi Omega for volunteering at the party. They had a blast spending time and celebrating with the kids. We hope everyone had a nice Easter! Keep spreading that spring time cheer!
