Magnificent Mondays: Candy Craze at Auberle!

On Monday, February 18th, we had a blast with the teens at Auberle! We celebrated 14 birthdays for January and February, and 10 of the birthday boys and girls were able to attend. This party was extra sweet, because we played LCR: candy style! If you aren’t familiar with LCR, it’s a seriously fun game that’s pretty simple to play. Each person started with 3 boxes of candy. On each turn, three dice are rolled, and the person passes each of their candy boxes to the left, right, or middle pile depending on the roll. At the end of the game, the winner takes home the jackpot, which in this case was a big pile of candy! The kids had an awesome time and they were truly a pleasure to celebrate with! Our next party with Auberle will be in April, and we will celebrate all March and April birthdays. Looking forward to it already!

Magnificent Mondays: What’s a Cheer Bin?

IMG_0002IMG_0001

Happy Monday! You may have heard us talking about Birthday Cheer Bins in recent stories or on our social media sites, so for this Magnificent Monday, we wanted to fill you in on the details! In addition to providing birthday parties for homeless children, Beverly’s Birthdays also provides Birthday Cheer Bins to emergency shelters in the Pittsburgh area.  Birthday Cheer Bins include age and gender specific gifts which emergency shelters have on-hand in the event that a child’s birthday falls on a day that his or her family happens to be in an emergency shelter situation. The above picture on the left shows two cheer bins for a boy and a girl in the age bracket of 7 to 10 years old. When small items like coloring books, stickers, hair accessories, and card games are donated to Beverly’s Birthdays, they often end up in these bins. Birthday Cheer Bins are a great way to spread even more joy to children on their special days!

Event Recap: So Much #BirthdayCheer

“An Evening Of Birthday Cheer” has come and gone, and we’re already looking forward to turning two next year! All we can say is, “WOW!” Thank you so much to everyone who was a part of this great event! We were able to celebrate our cause while raising funds for the children we serve. A special thanks also goes out to Bar Marco, which was transformed into the perfect party space! Party guests enjoyed delicious food, beverages, and of course, birthday cake! A strolling magician made his way around the room and dazzled many with his talents! The photo booth got super silly with all of the fun hats and accessories guests could use for poses. The take-home photo strips will certainly be a reminder of the fun night! The biggest hit of all had to be “Mike the Balloon Guy.” He made everything from princess hats to a monkey in a giant tree! Megs and Josh, The MC “Master of Cheer,” spoke to the crowd about the mission of Beverly’s Birthdays and gave many thanks for everyone’s generous support. A video was also shown so that the guests could see some of the children Beverly’s Birthdays serves as well as what one of our birthday parties looks like. At the end of the night, guests took home treat bags in true birthday party fashion. Some were even lucky enough to walk away with items from the gift auction, including Penguins tickets and an autographed Sidney Crosby jersey. We are still riding on the positive energy and birthday cheer from Monday, and we hope you are too! Here’s to an even bigger and brighter second year in 2013!

It’s Our Birthday! How Magnificent!

On this Magnificent Monday, we are so excited to celebrate our first birthday with you! Tonight, Beverly’s Birthdays celebrates 365 days at “An Evening of Birthday Cheer” at Bar Marco in the Strip District at 6:30. Party guests will join Megs and the Birthday Cheer Squad for some serious birthday fun! By attending tonight’s event, supporters will make it possible for Beverly’s Birthdays to continue throwing birthday parties like the magical magician party we had on January 31st. We celebrated the birthdays of 7 children at this party! The kids made magic hats, played games, and participated in magic tricks with a real magician (he even made a real rabbit appear!) Without the support of our wonderful volunteers and donors, these parties and presents for the children would not be possible. So tonight, we celebrate! A giant “thank you” to all!

Magnificent Mondays: One Week Until We Celebrate Spreading 365 Days of Cheer!

After months of preparation and planning, “An Evening of Birthday Cheer” is drawing near! Next Monday, February 11th, we are celebrating our own first birthday! The celebration will be held by our lead sponsor, Bar Marco, located in the Strip District at 6:30. A ticket includes dinner, one complimentary bar drink, fun birthday entertainment, and a gift auction. Penguins game tickets, an autographed Sidney Crosby jersey, and a signed Heath Miller football are just a few of the awesome items in our gift auction! 100% of funds raised at our birthday bash go directly to Beverly’s Birthdays’ mission to spread birthday cheer to homeless children. Tickets can be reserved at http://www.beverlysbirthdays.org for $50, but they’re going fast! It’s shaping up to be a seriously fun night! (After all, we are the birthday party specialists!) Who will wear the best balloon hat? We’ll find out in one week!
